Captain John A. Pulsinelli USN (ret)

For fifteen years, Captain. John Pulsinelli, United States Navy, (retired), and his wife Sherry have been parishioners at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Fernandina Beach, Florida. John is a career intelligence officer who authored his first book, The Politics of Deception: Target America, published in September 2020.

When John’s Pastor, the Reverend Father Jose Kallukalam, asked him to research and author the history of St. Michael’s in preparation for the 150th Anniversary, he was honored but not fully prepared for the task that lay ahead. Nevertheless, he accepted the assignment with the sincerity and commitment that he applies in all his church ministries as an Adult Altar Server, Lector, and Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.

While not a local native, he approached his challenging research effort deliberately and systematically as he did during his many years of intelligence work. Through countless hours of detailed research in the archives of the Amelia Island Museum of History, he has crafted what he believes is the true legacy of St. Michael’s Parish on Amelia Island. He has sought to bring that history to life. Though John initially described it as a tedious and laborious task, with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, it quickly turned into a labor of love for his fellow parishioners, his pastor, and future generations.

Bishop Filipe Estevez, the tenth Bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine, celebrated the Mass of Inauguration for the 150th Anniversary of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and parish on September 25, 2021. The Reverend Jose Kallukalam was the concelebrant with Reverend Ernie Davis and Deacon Art Treadwell assisting.

The author presented the church and parish history highlights to the clergy and parishioners following the celebration mass.

It is the author’s hope and desire that readers will find this book informative and inspirational.
